These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and General Grizzly ("General Grizzly," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the General Grizzly application (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What this is
General Grizzly is an AI-assisted study tool: chat-based tutoring, prerequisite-mapped "bootcamps," a notebook, manga-style explainer generation, study kits (guides, flashcards, quizzes, worksheets, and active-recall "blurting"), study timers, and a library to organize what you build. The Service is under active development. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and we make no promise of uninterrupted uptime.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are between 13 and 18, you should use the Service with the awareness of a parent or guardian, and in accordance with any rules your school sets about AI tools. By using the Service you represent that you meet this age requirement.
3. Your account
You sign in with Google, and you are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Accounts are for one person each — do not share your login or create multiple accounts to get around the usage allowance. Keep your Google account secure; we cannot recover access to General Grizzly if your Google account is compromised.
4. Usage allowance and fair use
Each account gets a daily usage allowance, refreshed 24 hours after it was last reset, because every generation the Service produces costs real money to run against the underlying AI providers. The Free plan, and any paid plan we introduce, is subject to the allowance displayed in the app at the time. Do not attempt to work around the allowance with scripts, multiple accounts, shared-account rotation, or other automated or bad-faith traffic. We use rate limiting and automated-abuse detection, and we may warn, throttle, or suspend an account that keeps attempting to circumvent it.
5. Plans and payment
Pro is $10/month and Max is $30/month, billed on a recurring basis starting the day you subscribe. Payments are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card number. Subscriptions renew automatically each month at the then-current price for your plan until you cancel; we'll give notice before any price change takes effect for existing subscribers.
Manage or cancel your subscription any time from Settings → Usage → Manage billing, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Canceling stops future renewal but does not refund the current billing period — you keep your plan's allowance through the end of the period you already paid for. We don't offer prorated refunds for a partial period, but if something went wrong on our end, email us (below) and we'll sort it out.
If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it automatically over the following days and email you about it — your plan keeps working during that retry window. If every retry fails and Stripe gives up, your account moves to Free until you update your payment method and resubscribe. See our pricing page for what each plan includes.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Generate content that is illegal, that harasses, threatens, or defames a real person, or that you would not want a teacher or guardian to see.
- Attempt to extract system prompts, internal instructions, API keys, or other credentials from the Service.
- Plant hidden instructions inside uploaded files, images, or messages aimed at making the Service behave outside its intended purpose as a study tool (a "prompt injection" attempt).
- Interfere with the Service's operation, including by probing, scanning, or attempting to bypass rate limits, usage allowances, or access controls.
- Use the Service to build a competing product by systematically extracting its prompts, structure, or outputs at scale.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organization.
We may investigate suspected violations and take action including warning, suspending, or terminating an account, with or without notice, depending on severity.
7. AI-generated content and accuracy
The Service uses AI models to generate lessons, answers, study material, and images. AI output can be confidently wrong, incomplete, or outdated. You are responsible for verifying anything you rely on, especially before using it for an exam, an assignment, or any decision that matters. The Service is a study aid, not a licensed tutor, and using it does not guarantee any particular academic outcome. Following your school or institution's rules on AI-assisted work is your responsibility, not ours.
8. Your content
You retain ownership of what you write, upload, and generate through the Service. By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit it solely to operate the features you use (for example, sending your prompt to an AI provider to generate a response, or storing a document you upload so you can reopen it later). We do not use your content to train AI models, ours or a third party's, and we do not sell it. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on what we collect and how it is used.
You are responsible for having the rights to anything you upload. Do not upload material you do not have permission to share, or material that infringes someone else's intellectual property.
9. Our intellectual property
The General Grizzly name, logo, and the Service's design, code, and branding are our property (or used under license) and are not covered by the content license you grant us above. Nothing in these Terms gives you rights to our trademarks or brand assets outside of normal, referential use.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers to function — Google for sign-in, and Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google for the underlying AI models, among others described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for outages, errors, or policy changes on the part of these providers, though we will make reasonable efforts to keep the Service working around them.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR RELIABILITY OF ANY AI-GENERATED CONTENT.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GENERAL GRIZZLY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ACADEMIC OUTCOME, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE EXTENT ANY LIABILITY IS NOT VALIDLY DISCLAIMED, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50).
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold General Grizzly harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content you submit that infringes or violates the rights of a third party.
14. Ending it
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings → Profile → Delete account. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, abuses the Service, or puts other users or the Service's availability at risk, with notice where practical. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves, most notably once billing launches. We will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page when we do. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Texas.
